Welcome to 2023

So we have made it to 2023, leaving 2022 behind with some sad days for my family and I. My brother passed away in September 2022 unexpectedly. I have learned that life is too short, so be sure to say “I love you” often to those you love.

What are your plans for the new year? We have a few trips added to our bucket list this year taking our grandsons with us on a few of them. We may add some additional sites along the way, who knows life may surprise us with something beautiful.

  1. The Mammoth Site
  2. Mount Rushmore
  3. Grand Canyon National Park

Our grandsons are traveling with us to visit the Mammoth Site and Mount Rushmore this summer. My husband and I are going to visit the Grand Canyon this fall. We are all very excited.

What are your plans for the new year? Have you decided what sites you would like to visit?

Here is a list of popular places to visit for families in no particular order. I urge everyone to pick at least one place to visit with your family this year. Life is too short to miss opportunities to spend time with each other.

Yellowstone National Park located in the northwest corner of Wyoming spans approximately 3,468 square miles consisting of lakes, canyons, rivers, and mountain ranges. Full of wildlife including bears, wolves, bison, elk, birds, fish, reptiles, and so much more.

Grand Canyon National Park located in Arizona. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide with a depth of over a mile. For thousands of years,  Native Americans inhabited and built settlements within the canyon and its many caves.

Bryce Canyon is located in southwestern Utah and covers 35,835 acres. Rainbow Point is the highest part of the park at 9,105 feet and is located at the end of the 18-mile scenic drive. Yellow Creek, where it exits the park in the north-east section, is the lowest part of the park at 6,620 feet.

Sequoia National Park located in northern California. The park’s giant sequoia forests are part of 202,430 acres of old-growth forests shared by Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The giant sequoia trees are the most massive living single-stem trees on earth. In this region, you often see mule deer, Douglas squirrels, and American black bears.

Columbia River Gorge is a canyon of the Columbia River located in the Pacific Northwest and is up to 4,000 feet deep. The canyon stretches for over eighty miles as the river winds westward through the Cascade Range between the state of Washington to the north and Oregon to the south.

Multnomah Falls located in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. The waterfall is accessible from the Historic Columbia River Highway and Interstate 84. It is the tallest waterfall in the state of Oregon at 620 feet in height. The Multnomah Creek Bridge was built in 1914 and crosses below the falls.
